I think the key to Photoshop, Illustrator and other creative software on a surface/multi-touch computer is through object recognition. Its amazing how far we've pushed the mouse and other I/O devices as a design tool. When you compare todays I/O tools with the interaction benefits of touch computing its easy to see how limited we are. Every artist needs flexibility and range of motion when creating. Much like this author I'm looking forward to seeing surface / touch based systems proliferate. Being able to pick up a physical pencil, brush, crayon or anything else I have in my studio and interacting with the my design software fills my mind with possibilities.
