Helvetica the Typeface
The typeface Helvetica was created by Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffman for the Haas Type Foundry in Switzerland in the year 1957. The original name of the type face was Neue Haas Grotesk, but was later switched to Helvetica. Helvetica is derived from the Latin term for Switzerland Helvetia. Helvetica quickly became the hot new typeface for identity design, signage and more and is still the most well known and widely used typeface in print to this day.
