I have been doing extensive research on portfolio sites lately and what I’ve noticed and I’m sure a lot of you have noticed is the growing popularity of one page portfolio websites. I know some of you might be “anti trends”, but I think this portfolio website format is great for several reasons and I will give you tips on how to create your own one page graphic design portfolio and how you can market it for free.
I even use this one page portfolio format for my own graphic design portfolio, because I believe it works well!

I get a lot of direct mail advertisements where I live and I actually enjoy collecting and looking at the stuff I get. I like to see which direct mail pieces work and which don’t and which sizes catch my attention. Recently I received several direct mail pieces all in the same day that were varying in size but all square. I hadn’t received any square advertisements in a long time and my only guess is that some companies are trying new ways to get our attention.
GO Media is known for its sets of vector art called “GO Media’s Arsenal”. They have released eight great vector graphics packs so far and with the release of their ninth vector graphics pack they have announced a free vector art sampler available for download from their blog.
Kristina Bowers is a graphic designer with a great sense of design. I think her resume and business card designs on the home page of her website are great examples of what a quality graphic design resume and card should look like. I love her use of white space and her typography is simple yet powerful. I wish I knew what papers she used for her personal identity system!
A member over at our graphic design forums was kind enough to link me to these funny “You Suck at Photoshop” videos.

Design-police.org is a fun site I came across recently that lets you download an entire “Visual Enforcement Kit” so you can help police the world of design. I emailed this website to several design teachers I know and I am sure they will have fun in class with these.

The New MacBook Air Has Arrived
The new MacBook Air has a 13.3-inch widescreen LED display, full-size keyboard, and large multi-touch track pad all packed into a sleek frame that weighs only 3.0 pounds. The new MacBook also has a 1280-by-800 resolution screen which gives you vibrant images and rich colors, along with 2 gigs of ram standard, but two things concern me.
One of the coolest pieces of technology I have seen so far this year is Dell’s new crystal 22-inch widescreen flat panel monitor. The award winning new crystal display took home the highest design honor at the prestigious Consumer Electronics Show (CES Best of Innovations 2008).
Culture Club is an insane club in Belgium with an even more insane website. Their website was created by the creative masterminds at Glossy.tv which is home to a super creative design studio that provides graphic design and art direction services.
