I really enjoy mowing the grass. I’m pretty incompetent when it comes to most home improvement-type jobs, so mowing the lawn is one of the few things that makes me feel a wee bit manly.

Nature in general is very inspirational.. What drives me out from home is actually the sea.. and the sand.. I live in small town here in Italy close to the sea and the name is “Senigallia-The velvet sand” because of the wonderful beach that we have.. What inspire me most is the space without limits in front of you when you point the view from the water to the horizon..

Outside, after a winter cooped up,
Is breezes and birches and sun.
    Outside, after months indoors,
Is sneezes and searches and fun.

Sorry, I can never resist a bit of doggerel. ;o)

I honestly enjoy seeing life in any way, shape or form.

Every morning I see the outside of my studio and think, why should we designers stay in fornt of our computers inside our pretty small, 4 walls studio while our future ir standing right out there waiting for us???
That’s why I love the outside, because you’ll never know what you’ll find out there, maybe a new lover, maybe new friends, even maybe a better job…
Anyway, it’s up to us to decide staying indoors or to go and get a better future..

It is not beauty or attributes that are the inspiration. Nature, the world’s canvas, reflects every heart and soul gazing on it by drawing the essence of who you are by reflection in your mind of what you see. Nature as purity, stillness and rest, portrays that deep self which our world no longer accepts in a fast paced society: innocence. It therefore guides way to nature inspiring your heart - whereas, it is your heart that has inspired the vision and interpetation of nature. One Creator; one core; all creation.

I go outside because the fresh air always smells a whole lot better than monitor dust, and I’d rather squint my eyes from the sun than trying to look at the monitor at 3am with no lights on.

  9. Mick | March 11th, 2008

Call me a silly spiritual romantic but I really love the outdoors for 2 main reasons (amongst a host of others):
    1. It reminds me that as much as I love to create I am not the ultimate Creator.
    2. but also by His amazing creation I am constantly inspired in my emulation of His creativity.

Love the outdoors as it holds everything great in life… friends, family, beaches and design :)

    step away just once
take a break from your routine…
    new art is outside.

I love the feeling of freedom that you get when you’re outside on a summer day. I skate a lot and I love the warmth of the asphalt and metal underneath my feet.

  13. Michael Wilson | March 11th, 2008

My perfect walk outside would include having my ipod on and feeling drops of newly produced rain on my face. I love to look to the skies as it opens up and starts raining. It really rallies the senses, the smell of fresh rain really invigorates my brain and with every drop that hits my skin I know that I am alive and I know exactly why I do what I do…

  14. Jeff P | March 11th, 2008

I like the smell. The trees have a smell, grass has a smell, rain has a smell. Everything has a distinct smell that triggers memories of long hikes and epic mountain bike rides.

  15. diane | March 11th, 2008

Beach, sand and especially waves. So good for the soul. Consistant and steady, always.

  16. Bogdan | March 11th, 2008

Why I love the outdoors? I get plenty of time inside, working at the office so any hour of outdoors is well appreciated.

  17. Gen | March 11th, 2008

Me and my fiance are both graphic designers and when we both want to escape the screen for a while, we love to go on hikes, or go feed ducks and geese at the conservatory. We aslo love going on outdoor photo adventures and take as many photos of all things organic.

  18. Esya | March 11th, 2008

I love being outdoor, i think it clears my head. Most of all love hiking through woods or just hanging out somewhere deep into the wild on the shore of a lake, swiming or just sitting and watching watter… (Canad ais GREAT for that:)
It the city (since hiking doesnt happen as often as i would like it to due to my carlessnes and work) i cant live without biking…Just to get on my bike, ride at last 5-6 blocks witout thinking anbout anything in particular, fast, fast, fast so i can hear the wind in my head… Nothing puts me in a better mood and makes thoughts cristal clear…

Ill never forget the backpacking trip me and my family took on the west coast. After hiking in the sand all day we set up camp and built a bon fire right next to the ocean. By the time it was dark the fire was the only light we had and it started to rain. I just remember how free I felt laying there in the sand with the heat of the fire and the feeling of rain on my face, In complete silence all we could hear was the rain and the ocean. It changed my life.

  20. Alex | March 11th, 2008

The outdoors helps to recharge my creative batteries and also gives me insight into this “organic” thing my clients keep talking about.

  23. Erik | March 11th, 2008

The Northwoods have made a large impact on the way I view life. Canoing across the calming lakes of the Boundary Waters, hiking through the dense forests of Northern Wisconsin, hearing the screech of the American Bald Eagle and the calming coo of the Loon; all of these are the true music of my soul and the inspiration in my art.

Well, i live in Reunion island, a tropical island in the Indian ocean and i have to admit that this topic points out the chance i have to look to the sea from my little studio. I have to admit that i thank god every day because i don’t have to bear cold winters here, yes that’s trus i have sun all the time hey !!! even behind clouds when it rains … hahahhaha… but it is such a joy to go outside and feel the sun on your skin or, sometimes smell the sea on the terrasse where i put my little office… and when i look to the horizon, it relaxes me … i am leaving in another world and imagination surrounds me ! yes it is true ! nature brings me inspiration and force !

(oh yes, i am french so i am sorry if i made some mistakes or if you didn’t understand … sorrrrrrryyyyyyy :p )

Whenever I get bored, I turn to nature. Looking at nature, closely mind you, I see that nothing is resting. The Earth is constantly at work.

  26. jonathan | March 11th, 2008

I go snowboarding. Living ten minutes from the mountain lets me ride in the morning and work in the afternoon/evening. Best life ever.

  27. Jon | March 11th, 2008

I love the outdoors because it reminds me how fragile life really is.

  28. Naveena | March 12th, 2008

Seeing the beatiful flowers which have emerged in the dark soil always reminds me to be hopeful, even the most ordinary days should be treasured like precious jewels after seeing them in the outdoor!

  29. Lori | March 12th, 2008

I really love the outdoors because it means forgetting about the world and being free. I don’t have to think about deadlines and stroke lines, just what flavor ice cream I want when I sit on the grass and watch the clouds make shapes.

  30. Michael | March 12th, 2008

Creation inspires the most beautiful design work.

  31. Markus | March 12th, 2008

As designers we spend most of our time in front of the PC. Taking a break from this and enjoying nature with all its colors, shapes and smells is a great pleasure for me. I think everyone is drawn to nature and the harmony it resembles. Nature is a part of us and we are a part of nature. This is something I believe we often forget in our busy lifes today.

  32. Mary_Freebies | March 12th, 2008

I love going to the beach… Or walking in mountainous regions.

  33. Gray Ayer | March 12th, 2008

Nature is my problem solver. Whenever I get especially frustrated at a design or coding issue, I jump on my bicycle to give my body and instinctual brain some exercise in the great outdoors. It is when my creative brain is at rest, and able to be in a backstage position, do those moments of design clarity pop into my head, just when I’m trying to avoid that SUV barreling down on me.

  34. Mike Engel | March 12th, 2008

I love sitting on the grass, watching the stars and the moon. It reminds me of how complex yet simple they are. I also love just walking around outside. It reminds me that humans aren’t the ultimate species, and makes me feel connected to the world. And it helps my eyes :)

  35. Juan | March 13th, 2008

all of the ludic forms we can find growing in nature. That is what inspires me and makes me love outdoors

I enjoy laying on the beach or by the pool in Port St. Lucie, Florida with a great book or a notepad and pen in my hand. When it gets to hot I just take a little dip. When my eyes need a break from my pages I look around and see crabs and lizards, and sometimes even an alligator. I love the warm weather…I’m excitedly awaiting the day when the weather turns into that wonderfully fresh and clean Erie, PA air.

The one facet of nature I love the most is its unpredictability. In the area where I live, there is little in the way of fauna or impressive flora, but lots of historical past. I like going out looking for people’s forgotten items, whether its with a metal detector or just a foot to kick stuff off to one side. With nature, there’s always something to find, whether its spikes and rails from an old abandoned railroad or a 10 foot long chain found from perusing in the backyard. I love nature’s ability to surprise you every time to take a minute to look at it.

there are things that money can’t buy…
and you know what, those things are for free..
all we need to do is to learn how to appreciate the beauty of our mother nature.

The tall trees that cover the landscape in Great Falls, MD, stretch out to the heavens and create a natural cathedral. I enter this spiritual theater to commune with creation both that which inspires me externally and that which I sense internally. The silence upon the light breeze, the rush of water through the gorges below, and the occasional hawk dropping into view in the clear blue sky is truly an experience that fills my soul.

I’m someone who likes Mathematics, and Nature itself is made of Mathematics, you can find it everywhere, in insects, a tree, a leaf, a forest, the wind, storms, this world and the rest of the universe.
I like to go out to green spots, walk with no direction, stop without a reason and look around for shapes, patterns or behaviors that inspire me.

  46. Amardeep | March 16th, 2008

Wandering aimlessly amidst fresh spring air, stopping to marvel at the sunlight emerging in rays through the clouds and bathing everything below in bright, clean warmth is perfection, fulfillment, and bliss.

Can you smell the different season? I love the way different seasons smell. How you can feel the change with all your senses … The most amazing is the sun. I love the sun. I feel free and alive when this yellow thing is shining and is smiling at me. I love to design and stay at home with my pc, but there’s nothing more awesome to be outside all weekend. To feel the sun on your skin. To feel how the night is coming and the heat is gone and it’s beer time :)
I’m in love with the sun :)

  48. Alex | March 19th, 2008

    The outdoors at night.

True peace is when the world around me sleeps.
At night when the stars are out.
    Away from the city.
I can see for miles away

Yet I can’t see two feet in front of me.

A place to hide in plain sight and forgive my flaws.
    If only for a second.
To realize they only pale in comparison,
to what is all around me.

Why just don’t work outdoor… sometimes i just grab my tablet pc and go to the roof of my block, looks around the city and the urbanization inspirates me, well the air isnt that fresh like in the city park but the whole view gives me full of energy. Also love to go outdoor with my camera and experimenting with it when i shooting around. My favorites outdoor places to shooting r the old train station in my city and the port, also love the shoots in the nature its great time with nature wonders and have fun with camera shutter. Just the outdoors makes me creative and gives me some fresh ideas.

  50. mollie | March 20th, 2008

i love being outside because no matter how amazing your printer is, how fantastic of a camera you have, or how many pantone swatchbooks you own… you can never match the breathtaking colors of fall leaves on the trees, hot pink azaleas blooming, or the constantly changing blue of the sky. you can’t duplicate a miracle, no matter how genius of a designer you are.

  51. Munks | March 21st, 2008

Going outside makes me feel connected to the world… everything I see teases me to push a bit harder to conquer all that I am here for.

  52. Max | March 22nd, 2008

If you like the cold fresh air and the calm breeze that makes you nose numb at the tip, then I’m probably just like you. Although I like to spend my time indoors, I savour every minute spent with nature, may it be fishing, hiking, or simply laying on a hill in the middle of no where and gazing up in the sky absorbing the colours that spring of every star. You and I also like to sit on top of a mountain looking over a deep green forest, and while there we just let our mind drift off and a calm relaxed feeling embodies us. Upon arriving back home we just cant help feeling refreshed and full of new energy.

  53. Kuldar Kalvik | March 22nd, 2008

Your sitting on the grass in your grandparents yard. You touch this green fresh grass with your fingertips and everything comes back to you. Playing hide and seek when you were kids.. Climbing the trees and playing with cars.. Your first ride with bicycle.. Your first crush..

Everything seems like yesterday, and at the same time, it just seems so far, like it happened in another life. You look around, same old appletree where you climbed every summernight, that same old bench where you used to sit and watch stars, that very same house..

Everything seems the same, but somehow, nothing is the same. “Panncakes are ready!” At least, we have those sweet memories, and the will stay forever.
