Where are these people getting thermographic printing done on matte black cardstock? I’ve searched the web and have not found any printers. The clear cards are easy to find but black stock is remaining elusive. Any tips?

Another tip if you want a thick card, is to print offset and run the stock width with the grain. Most of the time the stock grain runs vertical and actually makes the thick card appear thinner, and bends easier.

This was a great post! I admire the thought of thinking outside the box. Inventing through design is whats going to get you noticed, especially through a business card. If you want to to invent through design to stand out, take something that’s inspiring as this and take it to the next level. For example, you can transform your ordinary business card into shapes, give it textures, and turn it into an object. ;)

    Love them, great inspiring designs.

  35. Scott   -   February 23, 2010 at 11:13 am

Some of them suck but are just hit hard with a letterpress so they’re automatically good?
Yes, that’s probably true- letterpress (especially blind hits) make anything good.

  47. Long Island Web Design   -   March 5, 2010 at 1:51 am

These are Awesome ……………..thanks for sharing this beautiful collection with us
The most I like is “EIGHTSEVENZERO”

  48. Lost Motion Assembly   -   March 5, 2010 at 8:40 am

@NVIII – If you’re talking about the EightSevenZero card that looks to me like a spot UV onto a matt laminated stock. Spot UV varnish goes on quite thick giving it a raised effect much like thermographic.

Nice stuff all round, though I wonder if the more elaborately die cut cards will last more than a day once they get shoved in someone’s pocket. And I do hope that Marian Bantjes card shows real lace and not a photoshop trick as that would be super-sweet.

  49. Linda Melendez   -   March 7, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Such a great collection!, i would like to share my business card designs on this too, how could i do that?

you definitely got the title correct. these have all inspired me. great collection.

  52. Rory   -   March 15, 2010 at 6:17 am

These are soooo good! I’m a web designer and rarely design business cards for clients. But seeing some of these really inspires me to get doing them again. Loving the radio presenter microphone styled card, simple but effective. There is also a lot of good ‘cut out’ cards, which I think really brings the standard card dimension to life.

  53. Victoria Blount   -   March 15, 2010 at 6:32 am

There are some really nice designs above, i think the best are those that break away from the normal size and shape restraints of normal business cards, like the hairdressers card shaped like a comb or radio presenter in the shape of a microphone.

  54. FotoStefan   -   March 16, 2010 at 4:08 am

    Great collection!
