Progression of an Animated Shot: Gothel & Rapunzel Disney’s Tangled
If you’re curious about how animated movies are made, better watch this video made by a Senior Animator at Dreamworks. The Progression of an Animated Shot showing Gothel and Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled is an educational video by Jamaal Bradley. Sure, the small bit of Gothel’s song is played repeatedly (though I liked the “getting kinda chubby” part), but I guess that’s a small price to pay to see this step-by-step process behind one of my favorite animated films.
On Departure
On Departure is the 2012 debut short film by director/animator Eoin Duffy. It is a short film about a traveler who’s making his way around an airport before accepting his journey’s end. Check out its trailer below!

Cannes Lions
A yearly event that’s anticipated by members of the global creative communications industries, the Cannes Lions in Cannes, France is a venue where one can be inspired and educated by the different works of creative professionals. This video is an enticing call for participants in the seminars that feature more than 50 presentations from experts in the creative field. New ideas will be introduced in these seminars, making the week-long festival (17-23 June, 2012) a must visit. Visit their site for more information!

Grant Morrison, MBE
Congratulations to Grant Morrison, MBE, a Scottish comic book writer known for his work on Animal Man, The Invisibles, Action Comics, Batman, and Fantastic Four. He is now a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for services to film and literature. Don’t start calling him Sir Grant, though, for that title is reserved for knights. He gets to include MBE after his name for the honor.

The Queen, Art & Image Exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery
Looking at photos of Queen Elizabeth II with Prince Philip makes me feel like an intruder, particularly when they’re acting all lovey-dovey like in this photo that’s popular on Pinterest. The National Portrait Gallery is a great source for those of you who can’t get enough of the Queen. Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 marks 60 years of her service as constitutional monarch of the Commonwealth realms, and the National Portrait Gallery is having a special exhibit to honor this grand celebration. Images of the Queen during her 60-year reign will be on display, with photos by Andy Warhol, Annie Liebovitz, Cecil Beaton, Chris Levine, and other photographers also included in the exhibit.
The photos will be on display until October 21st, 2012.
