The week is about to end so it’s again time to give you a round-up of the latest happenings in the design world. And this week we give you some interesting news about design conferences you might want to attend. Plus the Building of the Year from World Architecture Festival!
 

VIEW Conference & Fest

 
This year’s VIEW Conference, the premiere international event in Italy for graphic designers will commence on October 16 through 19 in Turin. VIEW 2012 will explore the rapid development and advances in the real and digital worlds. It will again features different lectures, tributes, meetings, exhibits and presentations ranging from various topics in graphic design like augmented reality, computer graphics, cinema, architecture and automotive design, medical imaging, 2D/3D animation, gaming, VFX and more.

 

 

 

A major highlight of VIEW 2012 is the amazing line-up of speakers featuring some of the world renowned artists, award-winning designers and popular international directors. Also, the event has contests for View Social Contest, View Award Game, ItalianMix and Grimm Animated. The first finalists of the Awards can now be viewed over their website. Other highlights include the world premiere presentation of the much anticipated movie “Cloud Atlas” by VFX Supervisor Dan Glass, Creative Bootcamp by Tom Wujec on October 18-19, an exclusive presentation of “Hotel Transylvania” and the European premiere of “Partysaurus Rex”, presentation of the making of “The Dark Knight Rises” by VFX Supervisor Paul Franklin and the VIEW Fest 2012 – a digital movie festival on October 19-21.
 

 


 

Gain: AIGA Design for Social Value Conference

 

This year’s ”Gain”: AIGA Design for Social Value Conference will showcase the role of designers and creatives in making social value. Speakers from different business and industries will share their visionary approaches by demonstrating the role that design plays in  institutional strategy, leadership, process and service, product and message, and how the creative input of designers can be an advantage in tackling social issues to improve the human experience.

The Gain Conference is a nice place to find inspiration, new partnerships and a learning experience and added awareness about designing with social responsibility. It will commence on October 9 through 10 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, California.

 


 

World Architecture Festival 2012: Building of The Year

 

The World Architecture Festival (WAF) is the largest festival and awards competition celebrating the wonders of architecture design excellence from across the globe. This year’s WAF features several seminars and workshops, awards and competitions, inspirations, resources and exhibits showcasing the best of the global architecture community – all packed in a three day event at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore from October 3 to 5.
 

 

The latest about this amazing gathering is the announcement of the winner of “World Building Of The Year“. The most anticipated award was given to “Gardens By The Bay” by Wilkinson Eyre Architects in Singapore. The landmark was just opened to public this June and composed of 101 hectare development revolving around three waterfront gardens overlooking the marina reservoir with greenhouses which depict a combination of urbanism and natural landscapes.
