Photographers and photo enthusiasts rejoice! As Yahoo! finally unveiled the new “awesome” look for Flickr, the once struggling photo sharing website now also offers 1 terabyte of free storage and provides a brand new experience for both of their desktop and android users. With a bigger storage, each user can upload as much as 500, 000 photos in full resolution.

“Flickr was once awesome, and it languished… now we want it to be awesome again,”  Yahoo! CEO Marissa Meyer said in a press event at New York City today.

Earlier today, Yahoo! has also announced its acquisition of social blogging platform Tumblr for $1.1 billion, all of it in cash.

The use of “CC” applications recreate the whole creative process where files can be stored, synced and shared via Creative Cloud, on your Windows PC, Mac Os, iOs and Android. Your projects can be published directly on Behance, connecting and getting feedback from the global community of creatives. Monthly subscription pricing starts at $50 for US users.

The “CC” applications will only be available in this service. The CS versions will still be available for purchase but the new features and services offered in the CC versions will not be included.

If you are wondering of how small this movie is, we are talking about atomic-scale small. IBM managed to create the smallest movie using the IBM-invented scanning tunneling microscope or STM. This one of a kind microscope weighs two tons and operates at negative 268 degrees Centigrade. What it does is it magnifies the atomic surface 100 million times more. They also used the microscope to control a needle along a copper surface to attract atoms and molecules on the surface, making it possible to move the atoms on a specific location. What is more amazing is that the moving atom makes this unique sound that helps the scientists to determine how many positions did the atom moved. The whole film is made up of 242 rendered still images of individually arranged atoms.
 

 
Of course IBM did not just made this amazing movie to show-off but they did this to explore the limits of storage and filming as well. The smallest movie starts with only a 12 atoms to celebrate the breakthrough of successfully using 12 atoms to store one bit of data. In our current technology we are using 1 million atoms to store one bit of data by IBM managed to size it down into a whooping 12 atoms.

The ten digital artists plus two surprise artists for TEN Season 2 were from France, USA, Argentina, Brazil, Korea, Japan, Russia, Poland, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom and Germany. Each will share new beautiful work as well as the local cultural influences with the world. Internet users especially digital artists will discover the different creative techniques by downloading the PSD file of each artist’s work for free in 24 hours. It comes with a making-of video, shot in the native country of each artist, sharing their cultural background and creative processes subtitled in 12 languages. In addition to the 10 new artists, two surprise artists will be featured, unveiling all new creative works.

The third featured artist and work in the series will be unveiled tomorrow. March’s artist, Adhemas Batista, is known as a “color salesman” thanks to his use of bright and lively colors, which has inspired his slogan, “I’m selling colors”. Inspired by the vibrancy of his home country, Brazil, Batista’s work is highly energetic, detailed and urban.

“I think our environment and personal experiences directly influence our life, as artists or designers. My work is probably more Brazilian than I am. I can be very calm and serious, while it’s happy all the time,” says the now L.A. resident. According to the artist, his creation is a “graphic explosion evoking the urban and youth culture, a kind of energetic rebellion, with bright colors and complex shapes.

More than just a learning tool for other designers, every artist shares his or her personal style and influences, how they came to become the artists they are today, along with the techniques they used to create the PSD through short videos. These videos are released on TEN Collection’s Facebook page and on Twitter (@Fotolia), or view them directly on Fotolia’s TEN Collection channel.
