Halloween is creeping closer and closer and that means movie studios are releasing some cool new movies! I’ve always been a huge fan of zombies, so I’m excited to see the new Zombieland movie coming out October 2nd starring Woody Harrelson. In honor of what I hope turns out to be a very good movie, are some frighteningly good zombie photos taken by a variety of photographers. Hope you enjoy this early Halloween inspiration treat!
When it comes to Photoshop designs and photo manipulations, space is a popular frontier to explore for designers. Space represents the unknown, imagination and vastness, which makes it a powerful theme to use. There has been a large increase in the use of space as a theme over the past year, probably sparked in part from tutorials from sites such as Abduzeedo and PSD Tuts. So I thought it would be interesting to seek out new space designs and boldly go where no design blogger (I think) has gone before!
I am always amazed at how fast technology advances, especially in the world of computers. It seems like just yesterday… I was struggling to play Dark Age of Camelot on an old IBM laptop connected to a 56k modem. My old laptop was so slow compared to computers nowadays, I would not even have the patience to let it boot and this was not even 10 years ago.
The Jewish New Year, or Rosh Hashanah, is one of the two High Holy Days, the most important religious holidays on the Jewish Calendar. If you have family and friends you won’t see that day, let them know you didn’t forget them. Design and print your own original holiday greeting cards.
Few people realize that the business card has its roots all the way back to the 16th Century in Europe (and the 15th Century in China).
In Renaissance Europe, the servants of aristocrats would present “visiting cards” to the servants of other aristocrats, the first step in any formal social interaction between the wealthy and powerful.
In this economic climate, it’s vital to stand out from the crowd. Whatever service or product you provide, there are more and more people like you, fighting over fewer and fewer remaining customers and clients. Any little thing you can do to stand out could be the factor that gets you the job or sale.
The United States of America is dedicated to its blue collar heroes — that’s why we celebrate May Day in September.
Labor Day posters tend to be uninspired. If you’re advertising an upcoming holiday event, whether it’s a rally for immigration reform and universal health care, or just a company or community picnic, you want a design for your Labor Day poster that evokes the aesthetic Zeitgeist of International Labor’s struggle against Global Capital.
Warning: lots of raised fists and the color red ahead:
When I heard that UPrinting.com is planning to offer round die cut business cards, I decided to scour the internet for some awesome design examples. I’ve always been a fan of round business cards, because they are so different from the rectangular cards that we are used to. Making an impression is often about differentiating yourself from the crowd and your business card is a good place to start.
Looking to redesign your portfolio site or a new client site? Well consider a “Waterworld” type theme! I’ve always been a fan of the deep blue sea and this type of imagery can bring up a lot of great and positive emotions in a viewer. So whether your website is directly related to water or not you can still harness the power of mother nature to design a cool water inspired website. Check out the cool water themed websites below for some inspiration if you plan on tackling this theme for your next project and feel free to link to any other cool water heavy website designs you know of.
Many websites are going green and by this I mean green in their color, imagery and overall style. Many of the sites deal directly with the environment or nature in some way, but others simply enjoy the emotion green color and imagery inspire in a viewer. People often find green colors and imagery relaxing and refreshing and if wielded properly can add a lot to a website design. So I thought I would showcase some cool websites that thrive off of the color green or nature related imagery and themes. Enjoy and feel free to link to any cool “green” sites you know of.
