crowdSPRING Goes Live!

News May 14, 2008

crowdSPRING is a new online marketplace for creative services. Buyers can post creative projects, watch the world contribute ideas and choose the one they like. For creatives, the website is a global stage for creativity where title and experience don’t matter.

Protecting Both Sides

crowdSPRING takes extra effort to ensure both buyers and creatives have equal protection on their website. Only serious buyers are allowed to post projects because they are required to pay in full upfront, which makes ensures designers will get paid if their work is chosen. Buyers are guaranteed a certain amount of submissions from designers or they will get a refund, ensuring that they don’t get stuck with two samples to choose from.

I tested out crowdSPRING and the site seems to run smoothly and its very easy to navigate. The only downside is you will be doing spec based work so your design may not win, but this site has a lot of potential for the right designers.

You are guaranteed your money if you win and right now competition is low, plus you get to create your own profile and crowdSPRING portfolio so companies can find you and contact you for future work. Payouts seem very fair for their projects and I’m sure as the site grows many gigs will be available. So if you are looking for some extra work this could be a great place to find just that in a monitored environment.

I think that is such a great idea. As a student at uni, might give the chance to earn a little bit of beer money if designs are good enough. Great for some real feed back, instead of “constructive criticism” from other students. I will be watching very closely.

Gino – thanks very much for taking the time to write a review about crowdSPRING. We are excited to continue building our creative community and to share crowdSPRING with everyone (we were in a private beta for 9 weeks prior to yesterday).

How is this not SPEC WORK? Websites like this degrade the graphic design industry! You dont ask 10 different doctors to check out your medical problem and then pay the one that gives you the diagonisis you like! You cant ask designers to design without PAYING them first.
