Beautiful Catalog Design Ideas to Spark Creativity

Inspiration August 17, 2011

Catalogs are multi-paged printed materials that can either be stitched or wire-bound on the sides. They are popularly used as menus, service and product listings and directories. Like magazines, they can often be kept by customers for future reference or left in stores for daily use.

It is only but necessary to design these catalogs well and to only have its color printing done by a proper print shop. A good design and print makes readers want to read the catalog from cover to cover, and perhaps even want to order more stuff than they initially intended.

Here are 30 beautiful examples of catalog printing. We hope you enjoy the following designs.

Leah is a graphic artist, pen and ink enthusiast, muralist, poet and blogger. As a child, she has adored the pen over Barbie. She can write backwards and knows that bit of info has nothing to do with design. She's been writing regularly for YouTheDesigner since January of 2011 (not backwards!) and has loved every second of it.

One vote, if you’re counting, for ‘A Day in the Life of a Graphic Design Student’.

You can certainly take inspiration from this collection. The varying uses of typography in these designs show the importance that it can have in effectively conveying a message to a prospective employer or client. First impressions are key thus carefully designing and producing such booklets or portfolios is vital to make the individual stand out from other more standard works.
Personally speaking, a favourite of mine, as has already been picked up on, is the ‘Day in the Life of a Graphic Designer’ piece. Combining imaginative info-graphics, typography and layout in one creative book, it’s a great way to simply put across the everyday lives of Graphic Designers.

Just my opinion, but nothing really stood out for me. I usually take at least some inspiration from these posts, but these ultimately felt a little homogenous to me.
